Everyone's life is unique, and figuring out the exact amount your loved ones will need if you die isn't the easiest job. That's why we created the Wysh Builder tool.
The Wysh Builder lets you quickly identify which financial responsibilities and desires you have in life that you would like covered if you were to die. Wanna send Ms. Wigglebutt to a long-term pet spa? Have a loved one sprinkle your ashes across an iconic landscape? Yep, that's a Wysh! Simply add that Wysh to your Wysh list! By setting up a Wysh for each responsibility, you'll quickly be able to see how much money your loved ones would need if you were to kick the bucket early.
Wyshes are broken out into four categories:
- Debt: Debt is money you owe to lenders—a responsibility you don't want to pass on to others. The biggest debt for most people to consider is a mortgage, if they have one. But this can also include personal loans, shared credit cards, private student loans, etc.
- Loved Ones: Many of us are responsible for the current and future needs of others. Wyshes in this category include (but are not limited to) covering daily expenses for kids, helping take care of elderly parents, paying for future college tuition, etc. These Wyshes are a great way to ensure that those who rely on you will be taken care of, no matter what.
- Loose Ends: The Grim Reaper might bring along some unique expenses that you may not have thought of. These include things like funeral expenses, doctor's bills, or even shooting your ashes to space (if that's your jam).
- Legacy: Once the responsibilities part is out of the way, it might be nice to see what additional financial good you can do for others. Do you have a favorite charity that you donate to regularly? Well, you can leave a Wysh to continue supporting them even after you're 6 feet under. You can also leave cash for friends, family, or whoever/whatever you want.
Our Wysh builder has many popular Wyshes ready to go, but it's a good idea to think of all of your unique needs and create custom Wyshes to cover them. And once you have all your Wyshes built out, you'll quickly see how much you need. Easy peasy.
