How does the Accelerated Death Benefit add-on work?

Our Terminal Illness Accelerated Death Benefit Rider allows us to pay a full death benefit to a living policyholder diagnosed with a terminal illness (rather than waiting to pay their beneficiaries after death). This gives those members the chance to use that money to put their affairs in order while still living, so their loved ones are taken care of in that difficult time. For this add-on to take effect, 12 months of your policy must be remaining, and you must have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of 12 months or less.

If you have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact our Wysh Granter support team
  2. Present proof of diagnosis
  3. Our Wysh Granters will work with you to pay off your debts (if applicable) and pay the remaining death benefit to you
  4. Use that money to give you and your family peace of mind and enjoy the time you have left to the fullest

Please note, not all diagnoses are created equal and are eligible for this benefit. So, please review your contract for full details. You can learn more about accelerated death benefits via our What is an accelerated death benefit? blog post.
